I give little to no credit to this poll so I don't even think we should recognize it.

Why do you give no credit to this poll?

That’s a good question Joe. The Savannah Morning News does not give any explanation for this poll. For instance, are we to assume that this is a power ranking or a classification ranking? Unlike those who create college and professional polls, the voters for prep sports polls do not have the resources to accurately evaluate each of these teams.
The Bowl Championship Series has been criticized since its conception mainly because critics of the system have concluded that those who vote in the human polls do not have the opportunity to watch every team’s game week in and week out. Hence, we have proponents of a playoff system to accurately determine the best team in the nation.
While I understand that the Savannah Morning News does not really choose who makes it to the playoffs, we as real prep sports fans should recognize this poll for what it really is. It is simply a compellation of English majors trying to get a job with a better newspaper who go to a couple of high school football games each Friday night and then piece together, based solely on their own limited knowledge and whatever they can dig up on gasports.com, a list of teams that play in the costal empire and surrounding areas that may or may not be accurately ranked.
I don’t claim to be an expert and honestly this weeks poll is probably not that far off, but these types of distractions can be just that, a distraction. That is why I give little to no credibility to this poll.
