Prize

Here is my choice

Football Picks : Week 1

Georgia / Oklahoma State
Notre Dame / Georgia Tech
Tennessee / California
Wake Forrest / Boston College
Wisconsin / Washington State

Benedictine / Windsor Forest
Effingham / Groves

Allright, go ahead and post your picks in the comments section. It will be much better if everyone makes picks each week. There are only seven games so there is no excuse not to participate. Remember, BC plays on a Thursday night this week, so you have untill 7:00 Thursday evening to make picks this week. Also, with your picks, everyone make a suggestion on a prize for the winner and we can vote on it later in the week. Ex. cash pot, twelve pack, bowl party, etc. Think outside the box, but don't eat it.

Stetson University

World Champions

The little league baseball team from Warner Robbins, Georgia just defeated Japan in the Little League World Series championship game with a walk off homerun in extra innings. This is the second consecutive year a team from Georgia has won it all. God Bless America.

Cross Country Team

I know yall probly don't care but the cross country team opened up it season yesterday at the Nike Arts in the Park cross country race in Daffin park. They were led by a freshman Rhett Anderson in 19:20 with Pearson Beasley and Kevin Lewis two or three seconds behind. Adam Doyle and Brett Mckinnon rounded out the top five in 19:45 and 19:47. We ended up placing 3rd this an improvement from last year where our 5th runner came in around 20:37 and we placed 4th.

Fabulous Football Friday

We decided about two hours before gametime tonight to drive to Savannah and watch the BC/High School scrimmage.

Highlights included but are not limited to the following:
*Michael Johnson had two interceptions.
*I don't think High School ran a single play on the ground.
*The field looks the best I've seen in five years.
*Our secondary isn't very good.
*The option took way too long to develop in the backfield.
*Caleb Collins is still very miniature.
*We got new pants...I think.
*Curly broke up a fight.
*I met Father Frank.
*Brian saw some old but still very young friends and then left the game to party with them.
*His parents don't know he is in Savannah and he probably won't visit.
I don't want to make a season prediction because it is always hard to guage your opponent's ability from year to year. But, if our competition is say, at the same level it was last year, BC will probably make the playoffs. Heck, even Kaaarl Demaaassi said we would. (I'm expecting our seb-region to be tougher than last year.)

I thought everyone would get kick out of this.

Vick admits dog killing, conspiracy
(CNN) -- NFL star Michael Vick has admitted that he and his co-defendants killed dogs that did not fight well in papers filed on Friday with a federal court in Virginia.

NFL star Michael Vick is set to appear in court Monday. A judge will have the final say on a plea deal.

In a plea agreement, Vick said he would plead guilty to one count of "Conspiracy to Travel in Interstate Commerce in Aid of Unlawful Activities and to Sponsor a Dog in an Animal Fighting Venture."
The charge is punishable by up to five years in prison and a $250,000 fine.
Federal prosecutors agreed to ask for the low end of the sentencing guidelines.
In an additional statement of facts, signed by Vick and filed with the agreement, Vick admitted buying the property that was used for dogfighting but said he did not bet on the fights or receive any of the money won.
"Most of the 'Bad Newz Kennels'' operations and gambling monies were provided by Vick," the official summary of facts stated. Gambling wins were generally split between co-conspirators Tony Taylor, Quanis Phillips and sometimes Purnell Peace, it continued.
"Vick did not gamble by placing side bets on any of the fights. Vick did not receive any of the proceeds from the purses that were won by 'Bad Newz Kennels.'"
Vick also agreed that "collective efforts" by him and two others caused the deaths of at least six dogs.
In about April of this year, Vick, Peace and Phillips tested some dogs in fighting sessions at Vick's property in Virginia, the statement said. "Peace, Phillips and Vick agreed to the killing of approximately 6-8 dogs that did not perform well in 'testing' sessions at 1915 Moonlight Road and all of those dogs were killed by various methods, including hanging and drowning.
"Vick agrees and stipulates that these dogs all died as a result of the collective efforts of Peace, Phillips and Vick," the summary said.
Three co-defendants -- Peace, 35, of Virginia Beach, Virginia; Phillips, 28, of Atlanta; and Taylor, 34, of Hampton, Virginia -- have already accepted agreements to plead guilty in exchange for reduced sentences.
Vick, 27, is scheduled to appear in federal court in Richmond, Virginia, on Monday, where he is expected to plead guilty before a judge.
The judge in the case will have the final say over the plea agreement.
If the judge accepts the deal, it means Vick will avoid more serious charges that might have been considered by a grand jury.
After Vick's indictment last month, National Football League Commissioner Roger Goodell ordered the quarterback not to report to the Falcons training camp, and the league is reviewing the case.

Bid Day at Bama

This past Sunday here at Alabama was Bid Day for the sororities. All the girls who went through rush go to the stadium at 5:00 to find out what sorority they got. All the guys go to the fraternity houses and start drinking early in the afternoon. Then about 5:15 they head over to the stadium where there was already a pretty good crowd. The girls then run out the stadium to their sorority houses. After doing this a bunch of the fraternities have huge parties. All and all its a lot of fun but not nearly as fun as what will happen a month from today whenever the Dawgs comes to Ttown.

Name Suggestions

During Biology is was alternating between thinking of names for the blog and checking out this co-ed name Kelsey whose only drawback is that she goes to church almost daily. I spent a little to much time looking at the girl because all I could come up with was
  • Friends,Football, and Fun Times

I know this sucks so someone make some suggstions.

Also Robert lets get a write up of how the sorority bid day thing at Bama went preferably with pictures of the girls or of you throwing up in the frat house. Either would work.

Effingham breeds trash and Charlotte breeds this:

As you sit in your dorm room reading this while you should be studying to make the deans list you are probly wondering what a grass fairy, top shelf liquor that bored soccer moms drink, boat shoes that Yact Club dad's wear, a rapper showing his bling, and a guy with gelled hair and an earing have in common. The answer is absolutely nothing at all unless you are the two rich kids from Charlotte who live next to me. Last night as my new found friend and Fellow Savannahnian Nic Newton and I were discussing the finer points of Savannah private school athletics and watching a little espn we heard the one kid next door ask the other kid, "Bro should I were my yellow lacoste shirt with my jeans or should I wear my green polo with my kahkis." While they were sipping on their grey goose and orange juice and listening to some music that consisted mainly of bitches, niggas, and hoes. Oh and I almost forgot one of these kids wears earings and has a really hot mom who comes and cleans his room and brings him little snacks and what not.

Welcome

Thanks for the invatation and greetings from Statesboro. Just a few thoughts:
-Lets not make fun of this blog thing. For lack of a better word, I think it's neat. Let's all really try to contribute. Joe, who else have you invited?
-I can't wait untill next weekend. Thursday, my last class ends at 6:15. After that, Brian and I will be hauling ass down scenic Interstate Sixteen to make the 7:30 BC vs. Windsor Thursday night matchup. I don't have classes Friday so after a night of sleep in my own bed in Savannah, I'll be on my way to Athens town.
-I just saw Superbad, I would reccomend it.
-Effingham county breeds some real trash. I am learning that quickly.
-I think this blog should maybee shy away a little from the BC thing. I'm not trying to drop my BC allegiance, but we're in college now. Lets try and come up with a new name. Suggestions?

Suggestions

Any comments or suggestios to make the blog better?

Golden Boy Not So Golden-"Ignorance of the law" right

Weis calls Clausen being cited a case of ignorance of the law
SOUTH BEND, Ind. (AP) -Notre Dame coach Charlie Weis said Monday that quarterback Jimmy Clausen's citation for transporting alcohol as a minor is a simple case of ignorance of the law.
"I think it's out of ignorance - and by ignorance I mean lack of knowledge,'' Weis said. "I don't think he was defiantly trying to get himself into trouble with the law.''
Weis said he himself didn't know it was illegal for someone who's underage - Clausen is 19 - to drive someone who is of legal drinking age to a liquor store to buy alcohol. He used the analogy of a friend of his son's driving the coach to a supermarket to buy a six pack of beer.
Still, Weis said it was a mistake.
"Did he have bad judgment, being in the wrong place at the wrong time, absolutely. You can't sit there and say when something happens that nothing happened,'' Weis said.
Clausen, who is competing for the Irish starting quarterback job, was not available for comment. Weis has not allowed freshmen to talk with the media yet this season. Clausen and other freshmen are scheduled to be available to the media for the first time on Friday.
Clausen, one of the top recruits in the country, was cited by Indiana State Excise Police on June 23 outside a liquor store about 10 p.m. on a Saturday night near campus along with a 23-year-old who bought two bottles of vodka, a bottle of whiskey and a case of beer.
Clausen remained outside the store in a vehicle along with another Notre Dame freshman, who was not cited.
Excise police were in an unmarked car looking for minors attempting to get alcohol, Excise Police Lt. Tim Cleveland said Monday. The citation first became public Friday when it was reported by the South Bend Tribune.
Clausen entered into a memorandum of understanding last month with the St. Joseph County prosecutor's office in which the citation against him will be dismissed if he isn't charged with a criminal act in the next year and he pays a $170 fee. If he had been convicted of the misdemeanor charge he could have faced up to 60 days in jail and a $500 fine.
Weis said Clausen, who has been practicing with the team, faces no other action.
Clausen is the second Irish quarterback to have a brush with the law this offseason. LaPorte County prosecutors dismissed a misdemeanor marijuana possession charge against quarterback Demetrius Jones in May after the owner of the car he borrowed told police he let Jones drive the car and was sure Jones didn't know the marijuana was in the ashtray.
Weis said Monday that quarterbacks at Notre Dame are always going to be under scrutiny.
"It comes with the territory. Fair or not, that's the way it goes,'' he said.
Weis also said the case of defensive lineman Derrell Hand, who was arrested last month on a misdemeanor charge of propositioning a prostitute, is nearing a resolution. Hand was suspended indefinitely from the team.
Weis had said Hand would have to let his case go through the judicial and university systems before Weis could take any action. Hand entered into a pretrial diversion program last Thursday and is scheduled to learn his fate from the school in the next couple of days, Weis said.
"Once that happens, I'll have a better idea of where we're going,'' Weis said.

Let the Count Begin-Verbal Commitment Number 2 For Wright

Rising senior at Urban Christian picks Bearcats over Tennessee
Cashmere Wright says he has it right this time.
After reneging from a rushed initial decision, the 6-foot-1, 165-pound point guard from Savannah's Urban Christian Academy said he verbally committed to play basketball at the University of Cincinnati on Thursday afternoon.
Wearing a Bearcats black shirt with red trim, the rising senior, who averaged 36 points a game at the small private school, said he relied on advice from his parents ultimately to choose Cincinnati over Tennessee.
He originally committed to play at Clemson in February, but changed his mind. Verbal commitments are non-binding.
"I think I made the decision to play at Clemson too early," said Wright, who can sign with the Bearcats on Nov. 14.
"What I liked the most about Cincinnati were the people around me."
His uncle, Derrick Miller, who starred at Kentucky and lives 30 minutes from the Bearcats' campus, will be among those people close to Wright now.
Nearly 50 Division I schools expressed an interest in Wright, who is ranked the 11th-best high school point guard in the nation by Internet recruiting site Rivals.com and 75th-best prep senior overall.
His quickness and jumping ability make him an excellent open-court player. He's also an adept shooter from 3-point range.
Kansas State, Oklahoma, Arkansas and Auburn were among the Division I schools sending representatives to Savannah.
But Wright's basketball stock took off in summer-league play. He played for the Hoop Planet All-Stars with Swainsboro's Tony Mitchell and Beach's James Fields and competed in tournaments in Orlando, Fla., Cincinnati, Los Angeles, Virginia, North Carolina, Las Vegas and Mississippi.
"During the last three years, Cashmere has been an outstanding leader as an athlete and an outstanding leader as a student, as well," Urban Christian basketball coach and athletics director Charles Gordon said. "I'm pleased he chose Cincinnati as a place to further his education and athletics."
Cincinnati struggled to an 11-19 record last season under first-year coach Mick Cronin. The Bearcats were only 2-14 in Big East Conference play.
Under coach Bob Huggins, UC was among the nation's top basketball programs for 16 years. Huggins took the Bearcats to 14 straight NCAA tournaments and one Final Four appearance before leaving for Kansas State last season.
Huggins returned to his alma mater, West Virginia, in April.
Wright said he will take sports management classes at Cincinnati.
In accordance with NCAA rules, collegiate coaches are not allowed to comment on their verbal commitments. Wright is the second player to commit to Cincinnati for 2008.
"In the hands of Coach Cronin at Cincinnati, I'm sure he'll will be drafted in the NBA," Urban Christian Principal Sandra Gordon said. "I plan on sitting back and watching the tour."
